Great Hustles participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. When a product link on this site points to Amazon and carries our tag, a qualifying purchase made through it can earn us a commission from Amazon. The price you pay is exactly the same either way.

They do not, and here is the mechanical reason why: commissions in the categories we cover are a small percentage of the sale, so the only strategy that pays over time is recommending things readers do not return and do not regret. Beyond that:

  • Our picks come from gear our own crews use on paid jobs, or from clearly stated research when we have not used something ourselves.
  • Several of our recommendations are not affiliate links at all and earn us nothing. They stay because they are the right answer.
  • Nobody buys placement here. Brands cannot pay to appear in a guide, move up a list, or soften a criticism.
  • If a product we recommended goes downhill, we pull or replace the recommendation, commission or not.

Where you will see disclosures

Every page that contains affiliate links carries a disclosure near those links, in addition to this page. Product cards mark outbound Amazon links clearly, and affiliate links use the rel="sponsored" attribute so search engines treat them correctly too.

Prices and availability

Amazon prices change constantly. Unless a page shows a clearly dated price, assume the current price on Amazon is the accurate one. Product availability, specs, and packaging can also change after we publish; when we learn about a meaningful change, we update the page.
